If any city on the planet can give Paris a run for its money for sheer magnificence, then surely it has to be Barcelona. Extraordinary architecture – sometimes overwhelming; beautiful squares to relax in; street performers; high points and cable cars – and it's all located on the Mediterranean, with a terrific climate to match.
In particular, and not just overwhelming but frankly unbelievable, is Sagrada Família: the gigantic church with resplendent, gothic detail piled on top of other detail. It's hard to grasp that its construction started in 1882 and isn't expected to be completed until well into this century. It would be a significant photography undertaking to do even a small aspect of such a project any justice.
